Decoration Ideas for Classroom Door

Ashwini Kulkarni Sule
The classroom door gives the passersby a peek into your world, and hence, it is essential that it is well-decorated and interesting, and also motivates students and fosters the feeling of oneness. On that note, here are some classroom door decoration ideas for you.
Decorating one's classroom is a thing of past. The latest 'in' thing is decorating its door. Decorating the classroom prevents you from giving a personal touch to your room, as you have to follow a school protocol.
All you can do is paste some scientific or mathematical charts here and there, post the pictures of some famous people, and adorn the walls with cliché quotes. How boring! What if you were allowed to paste your own photograph with your pet dog Samuel? Sounds bright, ain't it? So, here is your chance to add that missing personal touch.
You can use some classroom door decoration ideas and decorate it in numerous interesting ways that can appeal to students as well as passersby.

Involve the Kids

Always involve the kids in the decoration, because it's their room, and they will feel more like coming to school, if they are involved. Encourage them to come up with different options to decorate. You would be amazed at the number of inputs you'll get.

Puzzle Game

Post a new puzzle every day and ask the students to solve it. Provide the answer the next day, along with a new puzzle. You can also encourage the kids to come with puzzles of their own.

Current Affairs

Post the cutting of an interesting news article, and ask the students to come with a relevant caption. This will encourage the students to read the article. This may also inculcate the habit of reading the newspaper, which will help them in future.

Hobby Contest

Symbolize different hobbies and activities. For example, if a student has read a new book, he will post the symbol of a book with its name and date. At the end of the month, the class can count how many activities they have performed.

Number Game

A student can write a number or date on a paper and stick it. His classmates have to guess the significance of the number/date. They can write their options too, along with their names. Ask the student to show the answer at the end of the day.

Choose a Theme

Choose a theme every month, e.g., geometry, English, poetry, etc. and paste the items related to that theme. You can also post riddles and puzzles based on that theme. If possible, implement the theme for decorating the room as well.

Answer a Question

Children are inquisitive by nature, and they have hundreds of questions about the universe. Ask them to put them on the door. You can encourage the students to find the answers themselves, or you can choose free-time to answer them.

Beautiful Thoughts

These need not be quotes by some famous people, instead ask the students to come up with beautiful thoughts or quotes. You can also pick 'the quote of the day.' This will definitely help to unleash creativity within kids.

Calendar

If you already don't have one in the room, you can put it on the door. It should inform the students of the upcoming tests, events, competitions, etc. It can also inform the passersby of all the activities that you are likely to undertake.

Personalize

Lastly, put all your creativity in and personalize the door the way you want. Do not hesitate to paste your photograph. This can provide assurance and comfort, if your students are particularly young, and also help the older students, who have changed classes, to find you easily.
Classroom door decoration allows you to create your own style and sets you apart from the rest. Remember, the door gives an idea to the visitor about what to expect inside. So, your decorating styles should be in sync with the rest of the room.
