What Are the PTE Academic Enabling Skills?

The enabling skills in PTE Academic are: Grammar, Oral Fluency, Pronunciation, Spelling, Vocabulary & Written Discourse. In this story, we will explore what these skills are about, and what are the questions that come under it. Enabling skills are scored individually and also contribute to specific question type’s partial score.

Grammar

If you follow all the basic rules of English, you will get flying colors in grammar. The questions that are evaluated to score you on grammar are: Part I Speaking & Writing: Summarize Written Text & Essay Part III Listening: Summarize Spoken Text

Oral Fluency

In order to score better in terms of oral fluency, you have to speak in a natural and easily understood speech. Don’t rush or slow down. The questions that are evaluated to score you on oral fluency are: Part I Speaking & Writing: Read Aloud, Repeat Sentence, Describe Image, Re-Tell Lecture.

Pronunciation

Pronunciation can change the meaning of words if spoken incorrectly. Therefore, it’s really important to pronounce words right in PTE. Your accent doesn’t affect your score , in case you were wondering. Spelling

Writing words according to the spelling rules of the language can fetch you good marks. You can use only use one spelling convention throughout the test. Vocabulary

Written Discourse

The structure of a written text, its internal coherence, logical development and the range of linguistic resources used to express meaning accurately matters.
